Franco Federici was born in Parma and graduated with first class honours
at Parma Academy of
music. Thanks to his oustanding career he has received teacher’s diploma
which allows him to teach
in every academy of music and conservatory in Italy.
He has won first prize in many national as well as international opera
contests such as in Parma,
Milan, Reggio Emilia, Florence, Venice, Trieste, Spoleto, Munich, Sofia
and Geneva.
He has been awarded with the Verdi d’Oro Award (Parma), Ponchielli Award
(Cremona) and Poggi
Award (Piacenza) for his refined interpretative skills and his longstanding
career which has reached
the 45th year of activity.
In Italy, Franco Federici has performed in several opera houses such as
Milan (La Scala), Bologna
(Teatro Comunale), Torino (Teatro Regio), Rome (Teatro dell’Opera), Naples
(Teatro San Carlo),
Venice (Teatro la Fenice), Florence (Teatro Comunale), Catania (Teatro
Bellini), Parma (Teatro
Regio), Verona (Arena) and other minor theatres. In Europe he has sung
in Austria, Bulgaria,
Czecho-Slovakia, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, Portugal, U.K., Greece,
Russia, Ex-
Yugoslavia, Poland, Romania, Spain, Switzerland and Hungary. Outside Europe,
he has performed
in Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Canada, Colombia, Japan, Peru, U.S.A. and
Venezuela.
Franco Federici has recorded several opera CDs and videos such as Aida,
Otello, Il Trovatore,
Nabucco, Turandot, Gianni Schicchi, Tosca, Manon Lescaut, Bohème, Giulio
Cesare, Poliuto,
Andrea Chenier, La Gioconda, La Fanciulla del West, I Puritani, Don Pasquale,
Barbiere di
Siviglia, Le Nozze di Figaro, L'elisir d'amore, La Traviata, La Forza del
Destino and La
Cenerentola.
Franco Federici has performed with the best singers in the world. He made
his debut in La forza del
destino together with Renata Tebaldi, Mario Del Monaco and Ettore Bastianini
(director Antonino
Votto). He has also sung with Maria Callas, Giuseppe Di Stefano, Luciano
Pavarotti, Placido
Domingo, José Carreras, Raina Kabaivanska and many others.
He has been directed by the major musical directors in the world such as
Muti, Abbado, Gavazzeni,
Molinari Pradelli, Votto, Chailly, Zubin Metha, Levine, Santi and Sonzogno.
Among movie/opera
directors he has worked together with Luchino Visconti, Federico Fellini,
Roberto Rossellini,
Eduardo De Filippo and Franco Zeffirelli.
